Daytona Bike Week begins this weekend

We have been busy, busy, busy here in the Panhandle of Florida. CI had two conferences back to back. We have had unusually cold weather, and my printers in the Print Shop have been finicky.

Brenda’s bike is in the shop with Big Al Taylor over at Performance Machine Shop on 331 in Santa Rosa Beach. It is not idling properly. I suspected a gummed up carburetor, but Al could not find a problem. He is now checking the needle valves for the proper size to work with the K&N air filters.

I did a quick oil change on my car last week prior to going to Louisiana for a funeral. My mother’s older sister died. She was born in 1923. My aunt, like my mother and her other 4 sisters and brother, were born at home in a log cabin in St./ Tammany Parish. She truly lead a full life and one that no man could find fault with. Once you get past the loss and immediate pains, seeing so much family, is comforting. Now a family reunion is being planed around Easter time. Her youngest grandson was discharged from the Army and made it home in time to talk with her. She will be missed.

My friends up at Colors for the Cross in Dothan (Labor Day weekend rally) are busy having meetings and preparing the way for that event.

My brothers in CMA are already prepairing for Thunder Beach in Panama City Beach next month.

Next week is Daytona Bike Week. Brenda and I are going down Saturday morning and will come back the following Saturday evening. I am so looking forward to seeing many of my POG brothers and sisters, as well as our friends at Daytona City Church, and Roar Motorcycles for Women. We will be doing bike blessings at Roar this Sunday.

Rev, Robert of Enterprise Heavens Saints will be there all week also in the Heavens Saints tent. I am looking forward to seeing many of my CMA brothers also while we are there.

Lynn Brooks from N.C. will, I suspect, be working with her sisters in Leather and Lace MC. She loves these ladies, and works to support them as she witnesses to them as she is lead. Lynn is a patched member of Leather and Lace.

I just talked to Bill Johnson one of my POG members, a pastor in Tallahassee, and a regional leader for CI. He is bringing Pastor Arleen Smith from Jefferson, GA and a friend of hers, Kathy to bike week. Pastor Arleen will be teaching self defense at Roar Motorcycles for Women. Coming from a biker background, she is teaching aggressive self defense for street survival. Pastor Arleen and her husband pastor a church in Jefferson, Georgia.

Last year at Bike Week, the father of a good friend and Elder at Christian International Family Church, was his by a driver high on drugs. He is sorely missed by all. Pastor Fred Z of Bikers for Christ was hit as the same time but survived. They were riding side by side. I pray a special peace to them at this time.

Loss and lack are all around us. I grew up in a Pentecostal church, and you had to get saved every service, because Jesus may come as a thief in the night. I do not say that light heartedly, because it still holds true. It seems that we work for our future in Christ, but in Titus 3 it states that it is not by works which we have done, He (Jesus) saved us.

No matter what we are doing, we need to know that our heart and soul is ready to meet our maker. Preparation for the future is good. Get your education; learn a technical skill or trade. Prepare for the future, but know that our Savior could return at any time.

Whether you die a natural death, or are injured beyond repair in an accident, we need to be ready at all times. If you do not have that knowledge in your heart, take a moment to ask Jesus unto your heart. Confess your transgressions to Him and He will forgive you right now. Don’t wait. Find a pastor to talk to. If you are a biker, contact one of the many Motorcycle Ministries for someone to council you in your new journey with Christ. Please, do not wait.

Brenda and I will be working the streets, looking for opportunity to witness while in Daytona Beach. Dan and Sharon Schaeffer will be there as well. “Bear” & Sharon Brennan and their son Sky Wind may be attending also.

Looking forward to seeing you all,

Bubba <”//><
