Here is a hot and happy August to you,

Last month we celebrated our freedom as citizens of the U.S.A.  Many of you have served our country in various military branches, as public servants in or as politicians.  Like that old Bob Dylan song, Gotta Serve Somebody, many of us have served and continue to serve somebody or something.  Thank you for your past service, your present service and your continued service to our country and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Are you confused and wonder what direction you are going in, both spiritually and physically?  We are free to do what we want as long as we follow the letter of the law, the laws of man and the laws of God.  One of our freedoms is to make our own choice about what religion we want to be a part of.  Part of that freedom is to choose how deeply you want to be involved in your local fellowship and the gifts God has given to us.  Think about it like this.  On Thursday, 26 June, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) rendered a decision on the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.  Some supported the pro-gun decision, and some opposed it, but it is law now.  This doesn't mean that the law will not be contested and tried in the future.  The Judges made a decision, and it stands as a representation of the law of our land.  What kind of decision have you made, or, how has what you are doing, or want to do for Jesus, been judged by yourself or those around you?  Have you prayed for the sick and seen them healed?  Have you prayed with people degraded by sin, and seen them come to salvation and begin restoration?  Did you notice the change in their countenance when their salvation changed them?  My Bishop says his background is American heathen, he’s an Oklahoma country boy who rode his horse everywhere and got saved at a tent revival.  His dad told him that there was no such thing as speaking in tongues or receiving the Holy Spirit.  He told his dad he was too late in telling him that, as he had already been speaking and praying in the Holy Spirit.

We have a document, the Bible, that most would say, "Lays out the Law" for us and what we can do when empowered by our God.  It comes down to us.  Have we made a decision to line up with the law that has been rendered to us?  Much like the decisions of the Supreme Court, and the decision mentioned above; the Bible and what we consider the laws of God, as an example of how we should live, have been and continue to be contested by non-believers and the scientific community.  If you remember the movie with Charleston Heston and Yule Brenner about Moses and the Ten Commandments, you may remember something that Pharaoh would say when he made a law.  "It has been said, let it be written, let it be done."

You can safely follow me to more of this newsletter.

Blessings,
